Quartz & Rutile

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Wildkarspitze, Achen Valley, Krimml, Zell am See District, Salzburg, Austria
Class:
Combination
Size Range:
Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
4.9 × 4.8 × 2 cm
Description

A great alpine rarity: The specimen is developed as floater of well crystalized rock crystal. Rock crystal is water-clear, highly lustrous and also well crystalized backside. It shows several tips and amazing texture (much better in person) Inside this water-clear crystal you can see numerous, intense dar red rutile needles. Finally at the base you can see drak green chlorite incluions. Next to rarity - these colorful contrast inside a water clear rock crystal is just amazingly delicate. Rutile in combination; as inclusion to quartz is very rare for Alps generally. But we have to rank this specimen even higher for the locality. Most alpine localities in Austria are inside the National Park "Hohe Tauern" and field collecting is prohibited. So when we compare to Switzerland - everyone can buy a permit for digging and there are much more clefts. So Austria means less opportunities and much less quantity - material from Austria is ten times more rare than from any other area in entire Alps.
