Description

This specimen really made me do a double take, and is part of a group of three recovered. It was collected some years ago by a geologist working at the North Mine Opencut, an area not many specimens have survived from.

Bright light blue hemispheres of rosasite have either formed over or are included in clear druzy quartz crystals. The matrix is a mixture of copper stained clays and garnet sandstone, with some small pinkish spessartine visible under magnification. had I not seen the three specimens together and not seen the small spessartine I would never have believed they were from Broken Hill.

Truly something new and different from the HILL
