Description

This is a very interesting and nice example of rockbridgeite from the Upper Palatinate in Bavaria. It was first (incorrectly) listed as dufrenite from the Siegerland - the former owner and collector Hans Walling labeled it as such. During the initial auction i had a discussion with collector friends (thanks to Andreas!) about the specimen, particularly the missing limonite matrix indicated that there could be a mislabeling problem.

I had the specimen being analyzed to be sure and it is XRD confirmed rockbridgeite, and very typical as it came from Hagendorf or Kreuzberg-Pleystein, which are the most probable origins for this german classic.

The specimen consist of dark greenish to blackish radial aggregates / glaskopf structures with quartz inclusions (obviously pegmatitic quartz - should have been a hint to me that it is NOT Siegerland). Ex Walling specimen, acquired by him in 1987. Comes with (wrong!) Walling card.
