Description

"A very uncommon crystal, if we compare to crystals from Rauris, Habach Valley or some other more prominent localities there is a big difference: the habit is regular, not stepped. The sharp termination reminds more to crystals from Switzerland – this sharp, clear habit without any steps is remarkable and exceptional and rare!
The faces show excellent, mirror-like luster. I couldn´t show this on photos, it would look white, if I show to much luster and reflections on faces. In person you will see that the luster is compare able with highest quality from each other alpine locality.
The clarity is fine, just a little bit cloudy – in person less as you see on the photo with black background. Good enough to see the pore of your skin through the crystal. At the base dark green, partly nearly black chlorite is inter grown – good visible on the photo with light background. The bottom is healed, so this is a floater and it is undamaged.
I see much material from Switzerland on the market, so I have to note that material from Austria Alps is much more rare. In Switzerland every one can buy a permit and dig and there are much more clefts and opportunities. In Austria we have the National Park „Hohe Tauern“ - field collecting is prohibited, except some permits for local Strahlers. And we have much less quantity, so we have to rank a crystal like this – 15cm, sharp, floater, undamaged, lustrous – really high."
