Description

Blue quartz mineral specimens from Malaga, Spain, have reached international popularity during approximately the last ten years. There are a few reasons behind this. First of all, we can say that blue quartz is not a common mineral. It is not the only locality for blue quartz in the world, as some Spanish dealers proudly say, but the Spanish locality has been probably the most prolific one during 2000 – 2010 decade. Secondly, the beauty of the specimens is appreciated by the mineral collector. The colour, the really weird crystallization that sometimes they present and good luster are some of the characteristics that this material presents. The quarry closed some years ago and the material is each year more scarce, being now difficult to find blue quartz specimens even in the Spanish mineral market. The particular specimen shows sharp termination and crystals are very glossy, color is also over average.
