Description

A split 3 cm diameter drillcore from a borehole drilled at a remote locality in Lapland in Northern Norway: A bronze coloured matrix of pyrrhotite hosts black fragments of graphite that are mostly quite angular and have sometimes a narrow rim and crack fillings of pyrite. In the matrix also some higher reflecting pyrite crystals can be observerd that are often altered to brownish gossan. There are a very few very small red spots of hematite, too. The drill core is matt laquered in order to show better its filigreed structures. A very interesting and attractive specimen.
