Description

Blackish pyrochlore in cream-colored natrolite and grey feldspar matrix, accompanied by minor reddish "orangite", a variety of thorite (measured radioactivity is minimal, anyway).

This is a very old specimen which comes with two antique labels, one is glued on the specimen, faded and thus difficult to decipher ("Pyrochlor" and "Frederiksvärn" can be read easily). It could be detached if desired, because the glue is water-soluble arabic gum, and the old ink is not water-soluble.
The second one is in better condition and means "Natrolite with Pyrochlor - Federiksvärn", and "Orangit" is mentioned as a notice.
Todays diction of the location is Stavern (Fredriksvärn), it is situated near Larvik, Vestfold, Norway.
