Description

Free standing crystals of pectolite are very rare. Here we have a crowd of translucent excellent developped tabular crystals showing frequently twinning and other interesting crystal features. The crystals range between approx. 0.5 and 1 cm in size. They are set on two radiating crystal aggregates consisting of pectolite as well with some green coloured prehnite on it. A narrow rim of a black mineral can be observed that was analyzed as Julgoldite.

Overall, it is an unique specimen not only because of its interesting paragenesis but mainly because of the unique formed pectolite crystals.

The specimen is out of a basalt quarry and was found in the late 1980ies. Comes mounted in a plastic box.
