Description

Pistomesite is magnesian variety of siderite with the Fe:Mg atomic ratio ranging from 70:30 to 50:50. It was originally reported from Thurnberg Mt., Flachau, Radstadt, Salzburg, Austria - this sample with an old Louis Saeman label comes from that "type locality". The sparry yellowish brownish pistomesite is accompanied by iron glance (hematite). Old label from mid 1800s with some details.
