Description

I was astounded when I first saw this strange specimen, it was brought to me in a trade recently along with some other Kalahari minerals and immediately stood out.

I was told that it came from a old Kimberley mines and features a generous amount of kimberlite ore as matrix. The white stalactites are oyelite covering aragonite needles that are visible extending up out past the oyelite coating and terminating well out in the open in some cases, the white oyelite resembles melted marshmallow running off a kebab stick. In addition to this the back has a mineralized zone that features secondary aragonite growths present as radiating sprays of crystals as well as some rather unique flatted blade like aggregates quite different to the primary robust needles that have formed the stalactites above. 

I have also found a solitary calcite rhombs that is partially imbedded in the oyelite on the upper surface. I have not seen such a specimen before and I image to never see another one again, this is quite bizarre and very attractive.
