Description

Specimen consisting of massive nickeline with characteristic, reddish-metallic luster, blackish masses of chromite ("fer chromé") and crusts of an unidentified green mineral, maybe a Ni-bearing serpentine group mineral.

The locality "Lancaster Co." does not exist in Texas - but in Pennsylvania (Fulton Township, State Line Chromite District, Lancaster Co., Pennsylvania, USA). The mineralization of this locality fits perfectly.
Lancaster, Dallas Co., Texas is not known for nickeline.

Comes with original hand-written label of A. A. Damour (1808-1902), a well-known french mineralogist. His personal mineral collection was sold to F. Krantz (who was in charge of the Krantz mineral dealership between 1891 and 1926), probably shortly after his death.
