Nickeline & Gersdorffite

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Vein #51, Aït Ahmane, Zagora Province, Drâa-Tafilalet Region, Morocco
Class:
Crystals on Matrix
Size Range:
Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
5.7 × 4.4 × 3.1 cm
Description

Bright massive bronze colored nickeline masses surrounded by sharp grey octahedral crystals of gersdorfite to 9 mm with very well defined edges. Some white calcite crystals, impregnated by green annabergite englobe the gersdorfite crystals, but they are not in contact with the nickeline, suggesting that nickeline was the first phase to crystallize.

The sample has not been acid treated as many of these available on the market. It is from a recent re-discovery at the historical Vein No. 51, on September 2015, when we were able to buy them directly from the finders.
