Description

A choice miniature with sharp, deep red scalenohedral rhodochrosite crystals. The main scalenohedron is very aerial and reach 18 mm in size. As shown in the detailed pictures it is totally free of damage, with all the faces clearly displaying the growth steps. The other two smaller crystals however are cleaved. They are perched on amorphous black neotocite, according to: Hyrsl & Rosales (2003), Mineralogical Record, 34, 241-254.

An excellent and aesthetic Peruvian miniature from the Bob Janssens collection (#450), who bought it in 1999.
