Conichalcite Psm Malachite

Rare Mineral

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Dome Rock Copper Mine, Boolcoomatta Reserve, Olary Province, South Australia, Australia
Size Range:
Small cabinet (7-10 cm)
Size:
7.7 × 3.5 × 0.8 cm
Description

A example of some of the weird pseudomorphing that is well known from this small outback copper, gold and cobalt mine.

Conichalcite occurs as a film across a shale matrix and on top of that is a patch of acicular malachite that has been replaced by conichalcite.

This may have extended across a larger area of the specimen at one time, but has probably been removed from weathering on the dumps.
