Kobyashevite With Selenite On Calcite

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Milpillas Mine, Cuitaca, Santa Cruz Municipality, Sonora, Mexico
Class:
Crystals on Matrix
Size Range:
Small cabinet (7-10 cm)
Size:
4.5 × 7.4 × 3.6 cm
Description

Much like the post-mining blue aragonite from Tsumeb Mine in Namibia, this specimen's color is attributed to the kobyashevite growth that is resultant of the copper mining operations at the Milpillas Mine in Sonora, Mexico.

This specimen features extremely sharp calcite crystallization, as well as a fine fuzz of selenite growth atop the kobyashevite deposit. The mint green is nicely contrasted by the limonite matrix.
