Stibarsen & Kermesite

ex A.A. Damour
Classic Locality

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Chile
Size Range:
Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
5.8 × 4.3 × 3.5 cm
Description

19th century specimen from Chile. The A.A. Damour label identifies the specimen as native arsenic with antimony content which can be assigned to the species Stibarsen. This seems to be correct as there are some reddish brownish radial aggregates on one side which are very probable to be kermesite. The greyish brownish mass of stibarsen has a kind of scherbenkobalt habit. No hint on mindat nor on mineralienatlas ... and no hits on google too. Either mislabeled or quite a  rarity!
