Thick tabular crystallized hematite of metallic lustre with some well-terminated zones, overgrown by smaller crystals. Hematite specimens are very uncommon, specially of this decent quality, and are very rare even in dedicated collections to the DR Congo specimen.

Found before 1960, the specimen is from the stock of Robert Verdoodt, who was working in the laboratories of Union Minière du Haut-Katanga and evacuated to Belgium after the beginning of the Congo crisis that very year.
