Description

An extremely rare specimen most probably from Cornwall: Harrisite is a synonym for pseudomorphs of chalcocite after galena. Only very few occurrences worldwide are known by the literature. This specimen comes from an old UK suite at Krantz (only a few irish minerals were present also), which contained a majority of cornish specimens so the attribution is quite an educated guess. The specimen exhibits the typical galena cleavage which has been preserved during the replacement process. On the backside there is some native copper present in a clayey whitish matrix. The only UK reference in literature i know is Wheal Falmouth, Truro, Cornwall. Rare stuff!
