Gypsum

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Yamba-Noora Quarry, Loxton, Murray Basin, South Australia, Australia
Size Range:
Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
6.4 × 4.6 × 3.6 cm
Description

An unusual type of gypsum crystal that the locals call "Christmas Trees" and it's easy to see why. This specimen is in reality a series of twinned crystals compacted together. The colour is also more like a 'gypsum rose' type but unlike them, has a hard glossy surface.

Unusual locality and form alone make this a worthwhile addition to a collection. No damage of any kind.
