Brownish crusts of greenockite on layered, botyoidal 'galmei' ore.

Rare material from Altenberg Mine (Vieille Montagne Mine; Kelmisberg Mine) in Neutral-Moresnet. Neutral Moresnet was a small Belgian-Prussian condominium that existed from 1816 to 1920 between present-day Belgium and Germany. The mine was owned by Vieille-Montagne [also owner of the Nador N'Bails Mine, Djebel Nador, Hammam N'Bails District, Guelma Province, Algeria, cf. the nadorite in this auction]. It was closed in 1884 and is part of the classic Altenberg / Kelmis / Moresnet mining area near Aachen, Germany.

Comes with beautful antique Dr. F. Krantz label dated 1900-1920.
'Cadmiumblende' is an old german synonym for greenockite.
