Description

Massive ore specimen consisting of crystalline gersdorffite with a blueish tarnishing and some green crusts of Ni-bearing alteration products.

Comes with original hand-written label of Augustin Alexis Damour (1808-1902), a well-known french mineralogist, and on-glued corresponding number sticker.
His personal mineral collection was sold to F. Krantz (who was in charge of the Krantz mineral dealership between 1891 and 1926), probably shortly after his death.
The label means: "Disomose -  Sulfo Arséniure de Nickel - de Chili" (Gersdorffite - sulphur nickel arsenide - from Chile)

disomose = gersdorffite-Pca21, Dana 6th, 90 (1892).
