Fluorite & Amethyst

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Dorion Amethyst Mine, McTavish Township, Thunder Bay District, Ontario, Canada
Size Range:
Small cabinet (7-10 cm)
Size:
8 × 7 × 7 cm
Description

Mined in 1997. The Amethyste is typically for Thunder Bay, dark violet with minor Hematite inclusions. Several intense yellow Fluorite crystals are attachted. I think this is quite uncommon material – I had never seen before. The collector who trade it with me discovered a small pocket in 1997 together with his son, they only have a fist full of specimen. So I guess nobody have one. It is not only rare, it also looks very eyecatching – fine contrast. No significent damages to report.
