Description

A metamorphic mica schist specimen containing pale green to green fluorite and blueish-grey quartz in layers. The fluorite shows intensive blueish-white fluorescence in SW UV.

Gold was discovered here in 1891. Mining is still active in the area, all mines are now encompassed by modern open pits created over the past few decades, over what was once historic workings from the 1890's.

Comes with an old, stamp-like label with the original glue on the backside and corresponding number sticker. The label means:
"Fluorit mit Glimmer, Brown Hill, Australien, 17.6.1899".
An interesting australian oldtimer!
