Description

This is not the ordinary bulk material from India, but a - today very rare - beautiful, large scolecite- /apophyllite-specimen from the famous Das-Antas-tunnel zeolite find from the early sixties. The occurence was found during the built of railway tunnels by the Federal Railways (Rede Ferroviária Federal SA - RFFSA), connecting São Paulo with the city of Rio Grande.
The colorless, acicular scolecite crystals measure up to 5 cm, the greenish fluorapophylolite-(k) up to 3.5 cm. The minor orange mineral might be iron-oxides-colored stilbite or heulandite.
A few dings, but still beautiful and better in nature.
