Description

Cream-colored quartz var "Fensterquarz", a variety which was formed in a tectonic active environment. Earthquakes may cause rapid drops in the pressure inside a cavity or cleft, causing a rapid deposition of quartz layers on already formed crystals. The edges grow faster than the middle of the faces and there may be a coating of clay on a the layers, resulting in the "fenestrated" form of this quartz.

A fine old timer specimen which comes with very old A. Krantz label dated 1870-1890! No significant damages to report.
