Silver & Erythrite

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Cobalt, Timiskaming District, Ontario, Canada
Class:
Crystal Group/Cluster
Size Range:
Small cabinet (7-10 cm)
Size:
8.7 × 6 × 2 cm
Description

The Cobalt Area was the most prolific silver producer of the Region. When it was discovered the miners reported silver nuggets in the dimension of a cannon-ball. But all this material was for industry and unfortunately most of nuggest were melted to bullians. So a complete nugget in this dimension and weight (exactly 240 gramm) is already remarkable and only the weight (not regarding the mineralogical relevance) represents a high value. Some erytrine is also intergrown. The specimen shows dark, beautiful patina. Photos show front and backside.
