Description

A sawn and polished piece of dark greenish anthophyllite asbestos together with golden enstatite var bronzite.

Pelham was an anthophyllite asbestos mine which was operated 1873-1874, and possibly later. The first report of asbestos from Pelham appears to have been by Edward Hitchcock in 1818, who listed an occurrence of compact asbestos in the town.

A nice historic sample from old Dr. Krantz stock, comes with interesting label which is glued-together from text snippets; this type of label was occasionally found - but was quite rare overall.
