Description

A really rare specimen: from the long time closed (1963) coal mine Dorstfeld in Dortmund-Dorstfeld comes this specimen with two attached lables. One of the labels is almost unreadable but the second one at the base is quite clear. A matrix of black shale hosts brownish rhombs of dolomite lining a former cleft in the host rock. On top there are some lustrous brassy yellow chalcopyrite crystals and a very well developed blackish sphalerite crystal aggregate. This is the first specimen i ever saw from this mine. Label lists Dorstfeld II which means shaft 2 of the mine. Probaly late 19th/early 20th century.
