Description

Rich specimen fully lined with dozens of wurtzite crystals, very lustrous and often transparent. Wurtzite makes a pagoda shaped habitus, which is a rather classic shape especially in the mine of Agios Philippos.
Some wurtzite crystals crop out of a layer of iron stained dickite (analysed). A very good specimen from the area!

The dark grey metallic masses throughout the specimen, on analysed samples, turned out being galena psm after jordanite.

Agios Philippos can be declared a defunct locality, as the mine is closed and the open pit is partly filled with acidic waters. The specimen was collected in 2014, while retrieving data and specimens for an article I published in the Rivista Mineralogica Italiana 4/2014 with some friends. Specimens like that are to be considered among the last available from the locality.
