Description

Attention to this extremely rare piece of malachitized fossil of crinoids (sea-lily). When I saw it for the first time I thought that were just broken pieces of tube like stalactites, which are not that rare. However, under magnification, the regularity of the segments is evidenced as well a the radial striations of the segments that formed the columnar parts of crinoid stalks. This is the only piece I know so far of this replacement of fibrous malachite after crinoid.

Ex Achiel Moors specimen, a Belgian colonist in the D.R.Congo from 1957 to 1972.
