Pinite consists predominantly of muscovite or other clay group minerals and forms pseudomorphs mostly after cordierite, nepheline or scapolite.

In this case we have a nice pseudomorph of muscovite after a doubly terminated cordierite crystal from the volcanic Auvergne area in France.
