Description

Black single crystal of cliftonite (a variety of graphite) from Australia.

After Mindat: "Cliftonite is an octahedral graphite pseudomorph after kamacite, or rather the spaces left between kamacite domains. Found in a few iron meteorites. Originally considered as a new allotrope of carbon, later considered to be a pseudomorph of graphite after diamond".
