Description

Intriguing specimen of thick blood red cinnabar veins in host rock. Where the veins open (a couple spots) some droplets of liquid native mercury appear, associated to perfectly formed crystals of cinnabar. Best appreciated at 10x. According to the label, the precise locality is 'Mine Coulter Bear, Sausma Cie, California, USA' whose reference I could not retrieve.

The specimen comes from the former collection Burger (pre-1951, labelled in modern times). The label cites 'from Bern Museum, cf0240', although no further reference is herewith provided.
