Description

Set of 4 samples of pegmatitic ore, containing cassiterite, molybdenite and galena.

Rare old greenland material which comes with old A. A. Damour label. His personal mineral collection was sold to F. Krantz (who was in charge of the Krantz mineral dealership between 1891 and 1926), probably shortly after his death. The label means: "Cassitérite avec quarz, Galène, Molybdènite, Feldspath - d'Omenak, Gröenland occidental" (Cassiterite, galena, Molybdenite, Feldspar from Omenak [Uummannaq] Western Greenland).
19th century Greenland specimens are very rare and hard to find. Imagine that a trip to greenland in this period was an adventurous and costly polar expedition, not least in a much colder climate phase.

Size is given for the largest specimen, the size of the others is 1.2 - 2.4 cm.
