Description

A sizeable botryoidal specimen of so called "hydrodolomite", a very unusual mixture of dolomite, calcite and hydromagnesite which used to occur very locally in the Vesuvius quarry. The botryoids are cream yellow and well formed, and they show the complexity of this aggregate in a good manner.
This is one of the very few specimens I have ever come across, and it has happily resided in my personal collection since the early 2000s. Very very hard to get ahold of nowadays!
