Description

An amazing geological sample from an old collection featuring bright lustrous, thin sheets of gold in white calcite. It is embedded in an artificial brown resinous "Plastin" matrix and was sawn and polished. The surface size of the embedded specimen is appr. 19 x 15 mm.

I was not able to identify a locality named "Lávoas" in brazil - I would suggest a transcription error on "Lavras", a populated place in Pontes e Lacerda, Mato Grosso, Brazil, with several gold localities nearby.
