Description

Piece of drusy zinc ore, quite heavy. The vugs are lined with grey, crystalline crusts and globular structures of smithsomite.
An interesting historic specimen from the Altenberg zinc mine in Neutral-Moresnet. Neutral Moresnet was a small Belgian-Prussian condominium that existed from 1816 to 1920 between present-day Belgium and Germany. The mine was owned by Vieille-Montagne, closed already in 1884 and is part of the classic Altenberg / Kelmis / Moresnet mining area near Aachen, Germany.

From old Dr. Krantz stock, comes with beautiful old label dated 1867!
