Valentinite & Boulangerite

Ex Mike Gough Collection (UK)

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Ramsdale Mine, North Dundas, Zeehan, West Coast Municipality, Tasmania, Australia
Size Range:
Small cabinet (7-10 cm)
Size:
7.1 × 2.9 × 3.6 cm
Largest Crystal:
0.50cm
Description

A matrix of mixed sulphides including boulangerite, tennantite and chalcopyrite has little vugs along its length.

Within the vugs are arrays of very vell crystallised valentinite, clear yellow within but with a bright silver grey luster.

Also present are silver needles - label says bismuthinite, but could be boulangerite or even stibnite.

The label is interesting as it reads "Bismuthinite & Native Antimony" - I did not see native antimony, unless it is the silver in the valentinite.

Mike swapped this in the 1970s.

Very good valentinite from an obscure locality - very similar to Curtin-Davis Mine.
