Description

Super classic specimen of Spreustein, a natrolite variety previously known Bergmannite, associated to orange feldspar and black aegirine?, or more likely an amphibole? of the ferroedenite-hastingsite series (120 cleavage is apparently present). It comes with three previous labels, the oldest from the A.E.Seaman Museum.

I contacted Dr. John A. Jaszczak (Director and Curator, A.E.Seaman Mineral Museum, Michigan Technological University) and he said:

“According to our catalogue, DM20650K is natrolite (bergmannite) from "Brevig, Norway" and was deaccessioned from the collection in March 2002. The ‘K’ designation denotes that the specimen came to the collection in the 1970’s from the mineralogy and geology labs here at Michigan Tech via professor Joe Kalliokoski”.

Ex Chris Deroo specimen.
