Description

This specimen features a series of vughs lined with large azurite crystals.

The azurite crystals are quite large and well preserved and of the deepest blue. What makes it unusual is that the matrix of the specimen consists largely of azurite with a small proportion of malachite. An azurite-lined vugh within azurite, in fact.

This undamaged sample comes from Peak Hill in the Lachlan Fold Belt of Eastern Australia.
