Description

A specimen from a very unusual locality, the island of Jan Mayen which is located about 550 km NE of Iceland. Jan Mayen belongs political to Norway. It represents a part of the northatlantic ridge and is dominated by volcanic rocks. The Beerenberg volcanoe covers the northern part of the island.

This labradorite sample is showing a blue labradorescence and is cut and polished on two sides. A specimen which can hardly be found in any mineral collection.
