Description

Basalt matrix with a central amygdale containing salmon coloured pyramidal gmelinite crystals with transparent, stumpy, natrolite crystals. The specimen also shows dark green andradite crystals and grey coloured apatite crystals. This is the only locality in the Antrim Basalt Formation where these minerals occur having formed from chemical alteration close to a dolerite dyke intrusion.
