Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Kővágószőlős, Mecsek Mountains, Baranya County, Hungary
Class:
Crystals on Matrix
Size Range:
Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
5.5 × 3.5 × 3.3 cm
Description

Beautiful and large secondary U-mineralization on sandstone matrix.
This is self-collected mineral. I dug it out from a roadbed of an old mining road. I also analyzed it of course (EDS and XRD)

The special feature of the specimen is that it contains only schoepit on one side and uranopilite on the other side. Schoepite has a bright lemon yellow fluorescence under UV light and uranopilite has a greenish flurescence under UV light.
