Description

A rare manganese amphibole, mangano-ferri-eckermannite is known from just three world localities and was renamed so instead of kôzulite, the original Japanese name. This thumbnail from the Australian find is rich with platy, dark red, silky-looking crystals embedded in quartz. The deep red matrix color is due to microscopic inclusions of namansilite.
