Description

Here is one of very few specimens of stoppaniite ever to become available to collectors. An extremely rare silicate, the iron homologue of beryl, stoppaniite was found in a single sanidine xenolith at the type locality more than 20 years ago. This micromount hosts a hexagonal, prismatic crystal of the typical light blue color associated with magnetite.

Analytically confirmed specimen, showing a detectable scandium content so it can be described as a 20% solid solution with bazzite!
