Wasen Alp, Simplon Pass, Brig, Valais, Switzerland

Crystals on Matrix
Size Range:
Small miniature (3-4.5 cm)

3.2 × 3.2 × 1.5 cm
Description

Armenite is exceptionally uncommon, especially in large euhedral crystals. This piece has glassy, lustrous, white, crystals of Armenite, to 1,2 cm on a matrix of smaller crystals. This is a rare, hydrated, barium, calcium, aluminum, silicate from the famous Simplon Pass area, in Switzerland. This is one of the real good pieces found in the great find of the early 1990s. I have seen others from that find, but almost singles before, and none on matrix. A super specimen and exceeding hard to obtain.
