Pyrargyrite

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Samson Mine, St Andreasberg, Goslar, Lower Saxony, Germany
Class:
Crystals on Matrix
Size Range:
Small miniature (3-4.5 cm)
Size:
3.6 × 3.2 × 2.5 cm
Description

This is a superb cluster with multifaced and excellent formed crystals of siver-sulfosalt Pyragyrite perched on typically, crystallized Stilbite matrix. The Pyrargyrite is sharp edged, highly lustrous and features a fine, slightly iridescent patina. The mostly perfect (not all) crystals are partly excellent striated and the overall aesthetics is great.  A classic old specimen from St. Andreasberg in the Harz Mountains, this is a piece that is much better in person, and almost certainly pre-dates the 1850's. The specimen comes with a high quality acrylic base.
