Description
Locality:
Deo Darrah, Khash & Keran Wa Munjan, Badakhshan Province, Afghanistan
Class:
Crystal Group/Cluster
Size Range:
Thumbnail (1-3cm)
Size:
2.5 × 2.1 × 1.7 cm
Description

Just a thumbnail,- but a really good and aesthetics. A fine cluster of well defined and sharp, hexagonal crystals of  blue Alkali-Beryl in several shades of blue and gray. The luster is very good and the transpareny as well. The well terminated crystals are showing partially a distinct fribrous surface, what is typical for that species and locale. These were originally thought to be Rosterite or Vorobyevite, but further analysis by Dr. Federico Pezzotta confirmed they are alkali-rich Beryls.
