Spangolite & Brochantite

Classic Locality

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Mex-Tex Mine, Socorro County, New Mexico, United States of America
Class:
Crystals on Matrix
Size Range:
Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
4.8 × 3.6 × 2.2 cm
Description

This is a striking miniature specimen of almost deep "electric-mint" coloured crystals of Spangolite accompanied by green Brochantite. The Spangolite is largely gemmy, razor sharp and mirror bright. Spangolite is a rare and desirable copper species, with a brilliant mint in colour. Although very rare worldwide, some small cavities such as this are found in the fluorite mines of Bingham, New Mexico, on occasion and a few finds of almost smaller crystal in Lavrion, Greece. This piece is rich of several vugs and exposed crystals with relatively large Spangolite,- and the combination with the Brochantite is great. I should apply a reserve bid.....
