Dillenburg District, Giessen Region, Hesse, Germany
Class:

Small miniature (3-4.5 cm)

Description

This superb old classic Millerite has a large spray of brass-metallic crystals perched on matrix. They are well defined, sharp and especially the prism faces are clearly visible. Good sprays of German Millerite are uncommon and objects of desire of many collectors. They are occurring from just a few localities worldwide in this quality. The German specimens are noted for particularly thick crystals as you see here. The needles are brass with an excellent metallic luster. Especially the Millerites from the Siegerland mines were exceeding sought after in the heydays,-but this specimen comes from Dillenburg, and is way more rarer.
